Freeman Chocolate & Strawberry Facial Clay Mask and Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask Review!

Hey guys! Today I wanted to do a quick review of two face masks that I purchased recently and am in LOVE with. Face masks are great for your skin because depending on which type you use they can moisturize your skin, deep-clean your pores, increase circulation to your face, provide a boost of nutrients, the list goes on and on. They are a great way to give yourself a mini-facial and really treat your skin after a long week.

The two I've been loving recently are the Chocolate & Strawberry Facial Clay Mask and the Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask by Freeman. Freeman is such a good brand for face masks especially, they are always coming out with new formulations to treat all different skin types and ailments. Their products are loaded with fresh ingredients that are amazing for your skin.

Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask

I purchased the Charcoal & Black Sugar mask a couple of months ago because I read about it in a magazine and I thought it was a really good idea for a face mask. As I've said beforecharcoal is amazing for your skin because it absorbs all impurities and leaves your skin clean and detoxified. Additionally, the charcoal used in this mask is actually activated charcoal, which means that it has been treated to increase its absorptive power. Sounds good to me!

The really cool thing about this mask is that it is actually a face mask and scrub in one! First you spread it all over your face and leave on for ten minutes so the charcoal can do its thing. Once that's done, you add a little water and start rubbing the sugar granules around your face in circular motions. Sugar has glycolic acid and is amazing at exfoliating your skin. It seriously leaves my skin so soft and glowing.

The texture of this face mask is not your typical face mask texture; it is basically a very gritty paste that you kind of have to spread around as best you can. However, it's 100% worth it. You'll notice a slight heating sensation as the activated charcoal starts to work its magic. That is great because the warmth opens up your pores and helps the charcoal draw all the impurities out. Seriously, go get this mask!

Freeman Chocolate & Strawberry Facial Clay Mask

I got this Chocolate & Strawberry clay mask a couple of weeks ago (actually wearing it right now!) and I am OBSESSED. Not only does it look like chocolate pudding, it seriously smells like it too! I've definitely had to stop myself from tasting it once or twice haha. It has oil-absorbing kaolin clay to reduce the size of large pores, however, unlike typical clay masks it also has nourishing ingredients such as shea and cocoa butter to moisturize your skin. I love that, because while I do love my clay masks, it's nice to have a more lightweight version to give your skin a break every now and then. The mask dries and hardens gently, unlike pure clay masks which can dry like plaster (you know what I mean!), but once you rinse it off your skin feels so refreshed and clean. Love it!

Typically I start with a detoxifying clay-based mask and then put on a more vitamin-rich moisturizing mask, after my pores have really opened up and are ready to absorb all the nutrients. I try to do this at least once a week (usually on Sunday) and I find that it really leaves my skin refreshed and ready for another week!

Alright that's it for this post guys! Let me know in the comments what weekly skincare rituals you follow!

xoxo Patricia

  1. I absolutely LOVE the Charcoal and Black Sugar mask!!! I have never tried the Chocolate and Strawberry one, but I'd be afraid of breaking out since my skin is prone to getting oily :( maybe I should try it though!
